Instead of using virgin polyester, we’re transitioning to recycled polyester zipper tapes made from used plastic bottles. These yarns are:

  • Sourced from certified post-consumer PET waste

  • Processed into strong, dyeable yarns with a 75% lower carbon footprint

  • Used in both coil and molded zipper types

We’re currently running in-house trials and already supply recycled polyester zippers for eco-conscious product lines.

  • Diverts plastic from landfills

  • Cuts down CO2 emissions

  • Reduces reliance on fossil fuels


2. Waterless and Low-Impact Dyeing

Traditional dyeing consumes massive amounts of water and chemicals. We are exploring waterless dyeing technologies, including:

  • Supercritical CO2 dyeing (early-stage trials)

  • Low-liquor ratio dyeing machines

  • Natural and low-impact dyes free from heavy metals

These techniques drastically reduce water consumption, prevent chemical runoff, and meet OEKO-TEX® compliance.

Goal: To integrate fully waterless dyeing systems by 2030 as part of our eco-dyeing roadmap.


3. Energy Efficiency Through Solar Power

To reduce our energy footprint, GG Zippers is investing in solar panel installations at our Meerut manufacturing plant. Our aim:

  • Generate 50% of our power from solar energy by 2030

  • Decrease dependence on fossil-based electricity

We are also upgrading machines to energy-efficient versions that consume less power per production unit.

Result: Cleaner production with lower operating costs and emissions.


4. In-House Recycling of Production Scrap

Waste is inevitable in any manufacturing setup—but we’re working to close the loop by recycling our own scraps.

We are setting up systems to:

  • Collect and segregate leftover polyester and metal waste

  • Reprocess and reuse these scraps as raw materials

  • Partner with recyclers for materials we can’t yet process in-house

This reduces landfill waste and improves our material efficiency.


5. Sustainable Slider & Element Sourcing

Beyond the tape, other zipper parts matter too:

  • Sliders made from recycled zinc alloy or low-impact plastic

  • Teeth and elements molded using recycled plastic granules

  • Eco-certified metal finishes that avoid chrome plating and harmful chemicals

We’re developing a 100% sustainable zipper prototype where each component is recycled and certified under standards like GRS.


6. Smart Manufacturing & Quality Control

We are adopting smart manufacturing practices including:

  • Digital monitoring for energy and water usage

  • Automated quality checks to reduce material rejection

  • Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste

Our teams are trained regularly on green practices, and data is used to drive further improvement.
